THE study of stress at the world must involve the study of syllable,which means the division of words into sound units.

There are words of one syllable ,that is called MONOSYLLABIC, THE one if two,BISYLLABIC,AND the one with three and above POLY SYLLABIC WORDS,

SOME RULES ARE BELOW:

A.nouns that ends in “ION” ,”ICS” are stressed on the syllable before the end.eg:Decision: de-CI-sion.

B.Nouns and adjectives that ends in”IC”are stressed on the syllable before the end,eg:specific:s-pe-CI-fic.

C.Nouns that ends in “UMor IUM”” are stressed on the syllable before the end.eg:ultimatum: ul-ti-MA-tum.

4.Nouns that ends in “dence” are stressed on the syllable before the end.eg:independence:in-de-PEN-dence.

5.Verbs that ends in ” ate,size,ify”are stress end on the third syllable from the end.eg:evaporate: e-VA-po-rate.signify:SIG-ni-fy.

6.Nouns that ends in”city,sis,y,ship”are stress ed on the third syllable from the end.eg:possibility: pos-si-BI-li-ty.

7.Adjectives that ends in “Ible,sent,all” are stressed on the third syllable from the end.eg:political: po-LI-ti-cal.

8.Adjectives that ends in”able”are stressed on the fourth syllable from the end. eg:comfortable: COM-for-ta-ble.
